Transition

On Sunday, an ambulance and fire truck arrived next door. We waited inside the garage trying to decide if we should check on him or not. Our thoughts began to whirl: Will it be an intrusion of his privacy? Do they want to be left alone? It is not our business. As we looked from the windows we saw his adult daughter and son arrive.

What I find interesting, was our hesitation to take action. We have lived next to this person for over 11 years. We love this beautiful soul - kind, caring, loving and a wonderful father. Finally, I told my husband that I was going to talk to our neighbor's daughter. As I approached I said, "Instead of watching from the garage, I wanted to come give you a hug." With that she began to cry and I just hugged her. As the ambulance headed for the hospital, she took my number and said she would call.

As I returned home, my son asked if he was going to be alright. I said to him, "If his soul wants to continue he will begin the process of regaining his health, if his soul is done and wants to move on, he will transition (die).

Last night she called to let us know our neighbor, her father had transitioned.

With joy that this beautiful soul has returned to the One Life, yet in sadness for the person I will miss, I am grateful for meeting the One Presence manifested as our neighbor.

Grateful

As November comes to a close, I am grateful.

As the warmth of the sun guided my family outside for a walk, instead of watching the parades on Thanksgiving, I felt movement within my soul. In connecting with the leaves as they scatter on the ground and watching my son chase after them, I am reminded that life happens in each moment. The warmth of my husband's hand in mine opens me again to the simplicity of life. Through this awareness I am moved to peace. For peace comes in the acceptance of my perceptions in life.

Once again, I am grateful.

Restore

My question is this: If nature can repair trees after a storm which hail rips every leaf from each branch, flattens yards and wipes out years of growth, what is possible for me? What is possible for you? Is it possible that we are limiting ourselves to what we “think” is possible versus allowing the Ever-Presence to flow through us? Today, decide to flow with life and see how amazing it can be. I know that as I watched nature restore my neighborhood over the past few months, that same restorative life is within me. It is also in you. Namaste.

Time to Connect

A young man came to the door. When I first answered, I thought “here we go again.” You would be surprised to discover how many people want to “help” you after a storm. However, this person seemed different. It was clear he was very well spoken as he began his speech. He continued and we began to have a conversation. He was just finishing college, working on paying back loans, helping out his mothers’ friend and finding his way in life. What I found refreshing was his honesty, his relaxed demeanor, his willingness to connect through his story. Although we spent little time talking about what he was selling, after the time with this young man, I was excited about repairing the house. I was ready to move on. Of course we had the person he was representing come out, and he was delightful as well. This person will probably never know what he did for us.

What I found was that when we connect with those around us we can go beyond what is polite conversation. We can listen to the challenges of another and our challenges fade. We can leave behind what is bothering us to provide help or a different option to another. In connecting to the wealth of humanity at our beckoned call, we connect to the One Source, the Infinite Intelligence within each of us. To this young man I say: “Thank you!”

Looking for Answers

I just watched a video on line where once again, we are asking someone outside ourselves for the answers which, during meditation, will be revealed to us. When we stop looking for answers outside of ourselves, true freedom and happiness reveals itself in many aspects of our life.

Time to Play

I am sitting here watching my son play with his new shovel. His old one wore out. He is playing on what was our tree, now just a stump, blown over by the storm. We did not loose a tree; we gained a stage and a mud pit. If he is not leading a new show, including his dad and me of course, the sheer joy in his face as he turns over the soil, again and again, never ceases to amaze me. He does not need every new toy, just a shovel and some dirt; even better if he can find a stick laying in the yard. As he continues in his play, he decides that the tree stump would like to share and he chips off a few pieces of bark to which he puts in the “dog’s corner” to freshen it up. Next, he digs a hole into the dirt to make a home for some bugs. Then he makes a ramp out of the dirt so we do not have to step onto the stump, but can walk up easily.

What if we all took what life presented and made a stage from a stump, a mud pit into glorious joy, a stick into a new tool? Life would be incredible. As events happen in life, let us all remember that it is not what happens, but how we react that creates the life we live. Now go enjoy the mud and walk easily on your path!

P.S. The stage has now become a launching pad and some rockets are blasting off. The count down is beginning, I better go. Every good astronaut needs a flight crew!

Everyday Life Paths

August 3, 2009

I planted flowers today. While that may not seem like a big deal, it is what re-centered me. A storm passed by and made my neighborhood look like winter. Many trees have been lost and yards/gardens flattened. Life is what you choose and today I choose again, to enjoy the process called life. When I choose to do something to enrich my surroundings, mental awareness of the good in life improves. When I choose to get caught up in the processes of life, thinking I need to control each move, I get stuck. I may have moments which I would prefer not to experience, however if I choose to respond differently than before, life can also be different. Life can be joyous no matter how it is manifesting in the moment. Today and Everyday I choose to flow with life, to live my life within the Everyday. EverydayLifePaths.com Coming January 2010

Oneness

I just came back from my front door. What an incredible experience!

As I heard a knock on the door, I saw two young women at my door with books in their hands. Every couple of years, two young adults walk our neighborhood selling books for their church scholarship program. As they began their sales pitch, I began to ask more specific questions about their faith. I must tell you, their knowledge and ease of the word was beautiful. They had passion. They knew what they believed, and they so wanted to share. I was in awe of such dedication and pure faith. As I looked through the books, they explained the history of their belief and what was to come. As they shared and explained what they knew, the Light of the One Presence shown in their eyes as clear as a still mountain lake. The love expressed for the truth as they perceived it was to be honored. I am honored that I was able to witness, to be a Presence, to their faith.

Do I love the experience because they believed as I did? Actually, I love this experience because I do not perceive the world or God exactly as they do. I love the essence which was inside them. From this experience, I was able to see the light that joins all of us, not the perceptions which separate us. For this I am so thankful to these young adults. I purchased a cookbook and for that they gave me three more of their books explaining their truths. What I actually received was even greater…experiencing the true Oneness in all life.
